Welcome to Eastern Delights—a hidden gem nestled at 10號 Shamchun St, Mong Kok, Hong Kong. Known for its inviting atmosphere and friendly service, this dining destination has quickly become a favorite among locals, exchange students, and expats alike.
The charm of Eastern Delights lies not just in its delectable offerings but also in the warm, welcoming vibe cultivated by its charismatic owner, Mr. Wong. Patrons regularly rave about their experiences with him; he is often described as a beacon of hospitality. Customers like Kenneth Lam and Alexander K have shared heartwarming stories about their interactions with Mr. Wong, highlighting how his friendly demeanor enhances the overall dining experience.
While the food may be described by some as average, it's the hearty portions and diverse menu that win diners over. Notable dishes include the 啫啫煲仔鸡 (Clay Pot Chicken), which patrons have pinpointed as a must-try, showcasing the rich tapestry of traditional Chinese cuisine. As Marcus Sand mentions, the establishment is particularly popular for its all-you-can-eat offerings with free-flow beer—a truly budget-friendly option for students and anyone looking to indulge in a flavor-packed meal.
The ambiance also plays a crucial role in the appeal of Eastern Delights. With laughter echoing through its walls and the aroma of delicious food wafting through the air, the establishment thrives on the spirit of community. It’s a place where conversations flow just as freely as the beer, and where the friendly banter of staff creates a sense of belonging. As Yin “Triangle” pan aptly noted, the interactions here defy the typical customer service stereotype often associated with Hong Kong.
In conclusion, Eastern Delights isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a cultural experience. Whether you're indulging in comforting dishes or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, each visit leaves you with lasting memories. So, gather your friends and head to this delightful haven where good food meets great company—it’s an outing you won’t regret!
“ Hang out with friends, lovely place with warm atmosphere. Very friendly service, love this place and highly recommended. ”
“ Mr. Wong has been super nice and welcoming each time we’ve come to visit, and is truly one of the must visit places in Hong Kong. Infamous among exchange students and expats in Hong Kong. The food is average, and you should be able to handle staff and others smoking nearby, as well as semi-good hygiene, but the food and beer are plentiful, and Mr. Wong will always greet everyone with a smile. Mr. Wong is very interested in internationals visiting Hong Kong, and if he has time then he might come to have a chat with you. When you arrive, if you look like a foreigner, staff will automatically assume you want the all-you-can-eat menu, otherwise you might have to ask for the “Student Menu”, which includes all the food and beer you can consume for cheap (at the time of visiting for 100 HKD). If you visit during the daytime, the normal menu is available. There are only a few seats and tables inside the restaurant itself (which close early), but in the back there are extra tables and chairs for large groups and for staying till late. Preferably pay with cash, but it is possible to pay with card and other e-payment options if you ask the staff. I can recommend reading the interview by The Beat Asia if you’re interested in knowing more about Mr. Wong and the history of this restaurant, and how he can make a living given how cheap it is. ”
“ This is Mr Wong’s restaurant . The famous all you can eat with free flow beer place for students . Food was ok , with some exceptions such as the 啫啫煲仔鸡 ( must try!), but generally hearty. Mr Wong is really friendly and personable and this place makes for a good low cost meal ! ”
“ Wonderful experience. Lovely staff, food was great. Traditional Chinese food, ordering was simplified for us English-speaking customers. Portions were great and the atmosphere was welcoming. Thoroughly recommended! ”
“ Accidentally came through back door but they were happy to greet me. Very friendly manager, actually sat down with me and we spoke of America and Asia together. Helped me order and then ate with me. Noodles and beer were delicious. Will return when I’m back ”
